Quartzite Flagstone

Quartzite is valued for its exceptional durability, resistance to scratching, and low porosity, which helps it stay clean and stainresistant. Unlike some stones of low porosity, quartzite is not slippery and generally meets ADA safety standards for traction. It is also an excellent choice for shaded areas where moss often forms on coarsertextured stones such as sandstone. Quartzite performs well under trees, where sap or leaf litter can discolor more porous materials. Cleaning is simple, and the surface can be maintained with a mild power washing.

Geologically, quartzite is a metamorphic rock formed from sandstone that has undergone intense heat and pressure. Because it originates from sandstone, quartzite is rich in silica, giving it a naturally hard and often glossier surface compared to many other stones. Its reflectivity and subtle shimmer can vary significantly depending on the stone’s origin and its mica content, adding natural beauty and variation to its surface.
