American Soil & Stone began in 1985 on a vacant Berkeley lot filled with weeds, eucalyptus trees, and possibility. What started with soil, mulch, and amendments soon grew to include flagstone, boulders, and an ever-expanding collection of natural stone. Over time, our name became a reflection of who we are and what we love: helping people shape beautiful outdoor spaces from the ground up.

Today, we call an 8-acre site in the Richmond Annex home, where we blend soils, stock a remarkably diverse selection of natural stone, and help bring landscape ideas to life. Our customers are as varied as our materials, from grade school students searching for pebbles for a class project to homeowners, contractors, architects, nurseries, and botanical gardens creating spaces of every size and style.
